Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy Loses Leg In Motorcycle Accident On Way Home From Own Retirement Party
Posted By Freedman & Freedman
Oakland County Sheriff's Deputy, Keith Palmer, was returning home from his 28-year retirement party when he was struck by a motorist requiring a portion of his leg to be amputated.  Authorities say he stopped his northbound motorcycle on Dixie Highway and Grange Hall Road in Groveland Township when a motorist, also heading north, struck Palmer.  Michigan State Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident but rather that the 22-year-old woman driving the vehicle likely fell asleep at the wheel.  She suffered minor injuries as well.

Second Victim Dies In Motorcycle Crash
Posted By Freedman & Freedman

Last Friday, tragedy occurred when a motorcycle/pickup crash took the life of the motorcycle driver, Gary Cline.  He was 50-years-old.  Mr. Cline's wife, Donna Cline, 48, was a passenger on the motorcycle.  She died Monday when she was taken off life support.  The crash occurred when the pickup, driven by a 16-year-old girl, turned in front of the motorcycle to go into a driveway causing the motorcycle to slam into the truck.  The couple leaves behind a 17-year-old daughter who is scheduled to leave next week to attend Michigan Tech.  The Clines' funeral is scheduled for Friday.

Motorcycle Accident Lawsuit Filed in Oakland County
Posted By Freedman & Freedman

A lawsuit has been filed in Oakland County Circuit Court by a man who claims he suffered full-body injuries in a 2007 motorcycle accident.

Named as defendants in the lawsuit are Fanchon Stinger and her ex-boyfriend, Rayford Jackson. The victim, David Sugg, contends Stinger and Jackson are liable for the accident that left him with injuries to head, neck, back, arms, legs, and body, and exacerbated a pre-existing condition. Sugg is also claiming he suffered from shock and mental distress as well.

The lawsuit alleges that the accident occurred when Jackson lost control of Stinger’s Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, causing him to careen violently and strike Sugg’s motorcycle. As a result, Sugg was forced to fall onto the ground at highway speed. Although Jackson was the one driving the Ferrari, Sugg included Stinger in the lawsuit since she is the owner of the vehicle.

The amount of damages Sugg is seeking has not yet been disclosed.
