Workplace Accident Victim Identified
The man killed in a workplace accident last week has finally been identified as Paris D. Prater.
According to police reports Prater, 58, was using a metal lathe machine when his clothing became ensnared, pulling him inside. Although his coworkers attempted to pull him out, they were unable to before emergency personnel arrived. Prater was brought by ambulance to Bay Regional Medical Center; he was pronounced dead a short time later.
As is standard in all workplace accidents, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called to examine the scene. The incident, which occurred at Schmidt Industries, is the second such accident to happen at a plant in the area. Last month David Roy fell to his death while working at Dow Chemical's Michigan Operations manufacturing facility.
