Community Stunned by Drunk Driving Accident and Death
When one young man killed another in adrunk driving accident last weekend, a community in Kent County, Mich. was stunned.
According to police reports the victim, 19-year-old Anothony Bloomquist, was riding his moped when he was struck from behind by Matthew Nowricki, 21. It was Nowricki who called 911 and the recordings reveal not only his confusion, but his impairment as well. Other drivers called 911 shortly after, saying that there was a man laying in the road, and several had had to swerve to avoid hitting him. In fact, one driver did hit the body before another vehicle parked next to Bloomquist to shield the body from further abuse.
Nowricki has since been charged with felony hit and run, and drunk driving. Officers found his blood-alcohol level to be twice the legal limit.
