Pit Bull Attack Leaves Victim With Two Broken Arms
Last Tuesday evening, 60-year-old William Ward was taking his trash can to the curb of
31st Street SW
in
Wyoming
Michigan
when 2 pit bulls charged at him from down the street.
Mr. Ward’s sister was on the phone with 911 operators advising of the stray dogs when she saw the attack on her brother.
Armed with an umbrella, Ms. Ward rushed to her brother’s aid and was able to get the dogs off of him but not before he suffered two broken arms.
Mr. Ward underwent surgery for his broken arms and was transferred to a local rehabilitation facility on Saturday.
According to his sister, Mr. Ward will have to undergo extensive rehabilitation.
The dogs’ owner was not at home at the time of the attack. Kent County Animal Control has placed the dogs on a 10-day quarantine.
Being the victim of a dog bite or any type of
animal attack is not only frightening, but it leaves a victim at risk of facing permanent scarring or disfigurement. Depending upon the size of the dog and the size, weight and strength of the victim, a dog can cause serious injuries or even death. Treatment for any dog bite injury may be very expensive. This is one of the main reasons it is so crucial to talk to a lawyer about your case and recovering compensation.
