Weekend Crash Kills 5

A Toyota Prius crossed the median of U.S. 23 in Green Oak Township Sunday afternoon and crashed into a Chevrolet Blazer travelling north on U.S. 23.  The driver of the Prius and two of its passengers were killed.  The fourth passenger was air-lifted to the hospital and as of last night, was in critical condition.  The driver of the Blazer as well as the front seat passenger was also killed in the crash.  The three children riding in the back of the Blazer, ages 10, 5 and 3, were all seriously injured and taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Ann Arbor for emergency care. 

It is unclear why the Prius crossed the median into oncoming traffic.  Police are continuing to investigate this horrible tragedy.
