Just before 5:00 this morning, a train collided with an Alco Transportation truck leaving 4 people injured on Detroit's southwest side. The semi-truck was hauling a load of steel coils to Lansing when the crash occurred. Investigators are unsure exactly what happened, however they are investigating to determine whether the driver of the semi-truck was trying to beat the approaching train or whether the warning lights at the crossing were not working. Reportedly, a data recorder on the train will provide details of the incident including how fast the train was going. Diagnostic tests will help confirm whether the warning lights were flashing.
